Falls in Senior Care: Exploring Prevention, Causes and Treatment is a two- part series which provides a complete 1-hour program on falls in senior care. Part 1 examines some common reasons for falls and preventive fall precautions. Part 2 examines essential elements of a high-risk falls program and how to respond to falls once they have taking place in a senior care setting.

Purpose

The purpose of this course is to provide the learner with information regarding falls and fall prevention in senior care. As falls are one of the most common forms of injury to the elderly, the information provided in this program is vital to any person employed in a senior care setting. 

Learning Objectives

1. List some common causes of falls in senior care
2. Discuss preventive fall precautions
3. List the essentials of a high risk falls program
4. Describe responding to falls once they have taken place 
 

Criteria for Successful Completion

To receive continuing education credit for this program, you must complete the entire course, including registration, viewing the video program, taking the post-test and obtaining a score of at least 70% or better, and completing the program evaluation. If you do not score a 70% or better, you may take the exam again as many times as necessary to receive a passing score. When a score of 70% or better is achieved, you will be able to move forward to the evaluation and receive your certificate online.
