Alzheimer’s Disease and Communication is a 1 hour course that focuses on communicating with individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and stresses how to learn and understand the individual's style of communication as Alzheimer's disease progresses. The course lists changes and challenges in communication that take place with Alzheimer' s disease. It also lists verbal and non-verbal communication strategies that can be helpful towards the end of the disease processes. 

Alzheimer’s Disease and Communication is both informative and practical and can enhance the communications skills of informal caregivers and healthcare professionals including social workers, case managers, nurses and nursing home administrators who provide care and services to older adults and senior diagnozed with Alzheimer's disease.

Purpose

The purpose of this course is to improve how caregivers communicate with individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease as it progresses.

Criteria for Successful Completion

To receive continuing education credit for this program, you must complete the entire course, including registration, viewing the video program, taking the post-test and obtaining a score of at least 70% or better, and completing the program evaluation. If you do not score a 70% or better, you may take the exam again as many times as necessary to receive a passing score. When a score of 70% or better is achieved, you will be able to move forward to the evaluation and receive your certificate online.
